Sunday 25th August – Windsurf *** River Orwell at Levington Marina – sunny periods.

Foil – 17.86 knot max, 16.61 knot ave, 10.70 knot hour, 14.45 knot mile, 37.71 km., 13.81 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

After yesterdays day of rain summer returned with a mainly sunny day, the forecast was for the wind to build around lunch time but maybe a fraction offshore so I decided to head to Levington around lunchtime which gave me time to do my exercises in the back garden =, then pack a picnic lunch as Mag used most of the wood chip we bought yesterday, the new border is now coming along nicely:) We arrived at the Marina around one with a couple of wingers already there, in fact there were loads of wingers here today, most I have never seen before and the parking spot was pretty full. Mag came to so while she had her lunch, yummy egg sandwiches again I set up my foil gear and took a chance with my 6.5 proved proved manageable but probably a metre and a half too big, still I maned up and stuck with it for over a couple of hours. WSW here is not the best direction and it was very gusty, I had a few runs down towards the docks but patchy so headed up river, I made it past Pin Mill to Nacton Shores a couple of times and had some nice runs back, surprisingly slow as too overpowered at time to push it too hard but still nice to be out with the yachts and I had the Pin Mill end pretty much to myself:) I then had a nice long run back to the marina and had a few good runs diagonally across the bay getting my best gybes of the day in front of the marina entrance before deciding to call it a day. Then had my sandwich and a cuppa with Mag who told me about her 3 mile walk past Loompit lake.
